shirt to skirt restyle!

This week I made this XXL shirt into this super cute skirt!

It was really simple-I just cut off the sleeves, folded down the top and stitched away!

This skirt is very versatile-I can dress it up

for a wedding or date night

or down

for everyday
or go all boho chic and wear it like this!!
I love it!

maiden voyage!

This week I had an opportunity to meander around anthropologie all by myself-I had never been to the store but i've often drooled over the online catalog. It was...amazing

I resisted the urge to take pictures in the store-although I reeeally wanted to-but I already felt a little touristy...anyway i walked slowly around the entire store just soaking in all the beautiful things and low and behold there at the back of the store was the 'sale' room! What!?? yes please!

I only bought one, tiny thing

this switch plate cover that was marked down from $24 (really? for a switch plate cover!?)

to $3.95!
(thats more like it) 4.28 with tax I think it will look amazing on my wall (which I'm working on-I think we're getting closer to something I love...)

I will say that, as a seamstress I was impressed with the quality of the garments in the store-the fabric, finishes and workmanship is worth the hefty price tag-if I were to make it for someone I would charge the price they are...I might have to invest in some anthropologie pieces...from the sale room of course;)

Easter Finery and such

I tried to get Michael to take a picture of me in my Easter dress but all of the ones he took were zoomed in on inappropriate places...so here is one where you can see the top of it:its such a pretty dress and so comfortable too! Gwenie was all decked out too-gotta love those curls:)

and just for kicks heres my husband looking rather j-crew...meeeoow

In our family its tradition that, while the kids have a normal Easter egg hunt the big kids (aka 'adults') look for 'the golden egg' which is hidden in a ridiculously hard to find spot. Why would we waste hours (yes hours) looking for said egg? Money. Everyone who looks has to put in $5 and in a family as big as ours it gets to be quite a prize. I think it was around $100 this year. Anyway my cousin Aaron found it this year-it was jigsawed into that stack of bricks behind him

We had a good day overall - I got to spend time with my Family and reflect on how truly blessed we are!! God is good:)

look what I got!!!!

I'm so fancy!!

my sweetheart let me upgrade our camera to a Nikon D60

it is SO awesome

annnnd I have no idea how to use it...yeesh there are alot of options I really need to read that manual...

so last night I spent the evening taking horrible pictures while I played with aperture and shutter speed etc etc and marveled at the clarity (and also the cuteness)

and also here is an outfit post-with me holding the fancy new camera
because I have no idea how to set the delay...yeah
look how crisp those ruffles are!

so get ready for much better pictures and just overall coolness around here!

The Wall.

for some reason decorating our room has been a little tricky-Gwen's was almost effortless-maybe I'm just too close to the project? Anyway I while back I posted this picture:

as my inspiration for this wall:

since then i've finally gathered together enough things to make my own random wall of coordinating um...stuff and then of course it sat on the floor in the corner of my room for a month (sheepish and slightly lazy face inserted *here*)

when I finally put it all up

I wasn't in love...

the space just felt a little 'blah' I felt like it needed something on the other side of the arrangement to balance it out

so I moved a few things around and brought in a "placeholder" chair and lamp to gauge whether or not I liked the way it 'felt' (very technical decorators terms I'm using here)

I *think* i like it--but would like to replace them with this lamp:

and this chair:

Re-Style: Cupcake stand!

Forgive the awful iphone photo quality:( I picked up this cupcake stand at the last swap I went to! It was missing the top tier so I bought that wall hanging peg thing at Hobby Lobby and screwed it on the top so it would look finished. Yes i know it looks wonky in this picture-don't worry I fixed it)
Then I coated the whole thing in "bright idea' spray paint and was done! I do think any cupcakes that sit on it are going to have to have liners...you know so nobody eats spray paint and dies.

I got to use it for the first time at my future sis-in-laws bridal shower! I absolutely LOVE the bright colors:) But I didn't get to eat any of those delicious looking cupcakes-or take any more pictures because Gwen got sick and we had to leave early:( poor baby!! She slept most of the afternoon and when she wasn't sleeping she would say she wanted to 'snuggle' with me:) so I changed from my 'cute shower' look:

to the snuggle friendly 'mom taking care of sick baby ensemble' :
classy right! Shes feeling much better now!

Normal feels nice

Hi there

We've had a rough week...but everything is normal now and nothing feels better than finishing a long term project! Gwenyth's room is done! Let me just remind you of what we were working with:
And what it looks like now
It is even better than I imagined!

I love the roman shade and I'm still deciding if I want to add curtains like these on either side or just leave it as is...thoughts?
I'm really loving this little 'cubby' area by the window too-it just feels so cozy:)

of course there is nothing on the walls yet so its still a work in progress but I'm oh so happy with how it turned out!
