Fashion Friday-3 ways to wear it!

Hello and happy friday! This week for Fashion Friday I thought I try to work around a little more 'controversial' piece.  If you can call a shoe controversial.  This is one of those love or loathe kind of things.

Indigo by Clarks oxford

These preppy little oxfords have been everywhere lately so I thought I'd use them as my base for 3 new outfits.
Here we go!

bohemian city life

This one has a romantic soft feel. The shoes give it a little structure and I think, make it look more polished than sandals would.  This would be an easy " transition to fall " type of look - just add a little cardigan and you're good to go!  Unless you live in Texas...if that is the case you'll be fine as is haha!

preepy chic

I love this.   The ponytail with the little dress and chambray shirt make this somewhat clunky shoe look sweet and dainty.  I think this would make a great date night outfit or could even be appropriate for an afternoon wedding.

something different

This one was just fun to put together. I love the subtle mix of floral from the skirt with stripes on the clutch and the juxtaposition of the prim and proper blouse with the smokey makeup and sleek hair. I'd wear this just to feel fancy:)

So which is your favorite?  And are you on the love or loathe side? Would you ever wear oxfords?

These are so much fun! What should I dress up next!??

Current Crush Thursday

Almost everyday I sport a big "statement" ring.  My reasons are mostly practical.  Lets be real, bracelets and necklaces while holding a very grabby 5 month old can be hazardous. The bracelets press into her little bum and my arm and leave marks when I'm holding her and the necklaces scream "here! Use this to choke mommy!!"  So rings it is.  Sometimes I go ahead and wear bracelets and necklaces though. I live on the edge.   Anyway-I've always loved and worn rings. When I was younger I decided wearing every ring all at once on every finger was the way to go, and right after I got married I forsook all rings but the beautiful new sparkly one.  Now I'm taking the "all things in moderation" approach.  Always wear the sparkly one and usually wear a big, verging on tacky one.  Since this is
Current Crush Thursdays
and we can pretend my funds are unlimited-here are my 6 top picks for fancy rings I'd add to my collection

big ring love

1    2     3       5     6

So pretty! *swoon*  I'm actually a big fan of those dainty little knuckle rings - and those are actually in my price range ;) What are you loving lately?  Anything you just cant get enough of??  Go link up and let me know!!

What I Wore Wednesday!

Hi!
Its time for WIWW again!  I did something a little different with the pictures this time-let me know what you think:)  I'm obviously having too much fun with my photo editing programs... linking up with The Pleated Poppy  and > Here < is  the background on what this is all about in case your interested.
Lets get on with it!

This is what I started out in. But then we walked to the Library (we're about 5 blocks or so away) and I changed into shorts and tennis shoes and stayed in them all day.

to morning bible study and to get my car inspected...

This outfit is sponsored by Target. Just kidding;)
Friday I went shopping with a friend to get an outfit for her husbands graduation ceremony
(from the police academy~yay Joel!) and then we went to Bad Movie Night at my sisters.
We watched Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and laughed at awful outfits and frizzy hair...

Then the weekend happened-no pictures-big surprise there!

Monday is what I call my weekend recovery day. I did exactly that! Stayed at home, washed mountains of laundry and visited with a friend for a few hours.

I'm in a hat mood apparently.
Full disclosure?  That hat annoyed me and sat on my counter most of the day.
Just keeping it real!
I spent Tuesday making lesson plans for Gwen and then I folded that mountain of laundry from Monday.
Glamorous life I live;)

Lately

I've watched my sister dye my 'bonus' brothers hair

blue...

trimmed my hair

and took artsy photos of my diapers.

I spent some time with my sister

on a road trip

with some essentials

We also laughed at this sign at our hotel

More recently we laughed at this baby eating her cake

and went through some of Gwenies old clothes for-she had some seriously cute shoes that I cant wait for Ivy to fit into

I also mapped out living room furniture. Which Michael laughed at me for doing -I told him he'd be thankful later when we don't spend too much money on a couch that doesn't fit

those 3 chairs are the couch.  The tape measure next to them is how deep it will be with the console table.  the other 2 are a rug-obviously.  I am super technical with my home decor methods...

what have you been up too??

Fashion Friday ~or~ 3 ways to wear it

I thought this might be a fun weekly feature.
One basic piece like this simple blue dress

Hollister Co dress

with 3 outfits based around it. All in different styles so there is something for everyone!

#1

One dress 3 ways

Classic and ladylike. Perfect for a wedding or even date night! I need those earrings in my life...

#2

One dress 3 ways

Fun and edgy! I would wear this to go out shopping with my sisters or for a night out with friends. Yes I wear shades at nighttime.

#3

One dress 3 ways

Bohemian. This is what I would most likely wear on a daily basis. Mostly because these shoes are the most comfortable;)

I really love making these sets on Polyvore:) I'm up for suggestions too-what basic should I dress up next?

Living Room Update and Design Board!

Yesterday I mentioned Michael did something awesome in the living room.

Can you spot the awesome?

A new door!!

It opens and closes with a simple turn, a flick of my wrist!
I no longer have to riot kick the front door to get inside!
Just look at how sad and pitiful the old door is...

Never does he look more attractive than when he is making improvements to our home...

I love his "i'm barely tolerating you right now stop taking pictures" face

He also got started on the baseboards and trim but we're not quite done with that part yet. Can you believe we're already on the last step? Also the cat decided this was an appropriate thing to do...
thanks Lo-Mein I really love sawdust all over the house.

I've been busy too! I can't always help with the construction part. Not that I'm not willing; I do get busy with a paintbrush! But these children always NEED stuff.  Like food and water and attention. So its almost a waste of time for me to get started on something since I'll have inevitably leave him hanging when Ivy needs to eat or Gwenie wants me to play or read or talk to/with her.   So instead I spend his money. Just kidding. But not really...

What I really do is make the important decisions like what couch to buy and then spend hours researching and reading reviews to make sure we're getting a good deal-so really I'm SAVING money right?!  All for you baby.  Its all in how you look at it.

Then I put all my ideas together in a handy mood board and say "Look. This is what I want." and he replies. "Looks Fantastic. Whatever you want my darling queen. I especially love that $400 mirror."

 what? Its TRUE!

Ok its not-I'm way to cheap for a $400 mirror.
This is what I have in mind for our living room, design wise.

Living Room Design Board

Mood-or-design boards are a great place to start in any room and they give me a solid direction so when I'm out shopping for the actual items that will come live with us I'm not distracted by all the pretty, shiny and totally unrelated to our actual plan, things. I'm a sucker for good advertising...
in this set 1,2,3 and 4 are from Ikea, 5,6 and 7 are from West Elm,  8 is from Target, 9 is from nationalbuildersupply.com , and 10 is from straydogdesigns.com
For more details and direct links to all of the items you can go to polyvore.com

You can see other mood boards and their results here: the kitchen plan. and The result. Ivy's room and result here, and the bathroom we're currently working on here

I cant wait to be able to decorate this space in real life!!
What about you? anything going on in your life that you can hardly wait for??!

Dress: Walmart. Hat and Shoes: Target. Necklace: Hobby Lobby

Last Wednesday I took my sister Hannah to a job interview. Which she nailed. (right Hannah!!?)  I may or may not have killed 2 hours in Ross while I waited for her...I got home just in time for small group that night.

Thursday morning is bible study and then housework

I think I spent all day working around the house and I worked on some more blog features-I seriously wish I had someone to help me navigate HTML code-its like reading french...
Michael took us out to dinner and then we watched a really cute foriegn film about awkward love and a chocolate shop. No really thats what it was about.

Michael did something awesome in the living room.  Then we went to an Usborne book party.
This day was full of win.
