Are you ready

For Halloween?! We are!
I just wanted to stop in and show you what Gwen decided to be

 A crow.

Not a princess. Not a fairy. Not even a cat or a horse. She wanted to be a crow. So I made that girl a crow costume!
I seriously can't look at her without giggling a little to myself. She is fabulously wonderfully weird

I just love this silly girl...
Have a safe and happy Halloween!

weekend recap!

Weekend recap time! We had a busy week and the weekend was no different.  Lets do the minimum words maximum pictures thing- I konw you're here for the eye candy anyway...

Friday night BBQ!

We wear cute shoes.

We also wear...hats. This is my older brother and younger sister sporting hats made out of beer cans.  We like to keep it classy.

We shopped all day Saturday. My husband needed new clothes! I didn't buy one single thing. Mostly because my side of the closet is pretty well stocked and his looks like the Serengeti in the dead of winter.  The kids took it like champs and were mostly happy the whole time. It was a day of miracles people. My husband SHOPPED and the children didn't completely melt down!

Sunday we went to church and hung out with some friends that I know well enough to clean in front of. Cause that's what I did-cleaned up, started laundry and worked on the living room gallery wall

all while chatting with some pretty amazing ladies! They even brought lunch-my friends rock.

I also sported some pocahontas hair. Don't worry I'm 1/25th Cherokee so that's totally PC.
Really I'm just thrilled that my hair can be classified as long again. My longtime readers will remember this post about how much I missed my hair. Deep stuff here. Very profound.

Our weekend ended/began in the very best way. Snuggling on our new couch in our almost completed living room ( that  I cant wait to share pictures of) with a sleeping baby and national geographic. it really doesn't get much better than this:)

I hope your weekend was just as good! Have a happy Monday!!

3 Ways to Wear....

Tall brown boots!!

I'm still camera-less at the moment but luckily these posts don't require any of my own pictures;)

Brown boots should be a wardrobe staple. I find them far more versatile than black boots and I love this overpriced pair
Frye ankle booties

These boots are pretty basic though. Even Payless has a similar option!
Womens BrashWomen's Zoey Riding Boot
Lets start with something nice and casusal
3 ways to wear;

I'm big on shades of green lately and I just LOVE when red heads wear this particular shade.  This outfit looks so cozy and warm. I feel like I need a walk in the woods and a mug of hot cider to go with it!

3 ways to wear;

#2 is pretty casual too but the lace detail on the sweater dress it up a bit. This would be a good outfit for a family thanksgiving dinner or a chilly Friday night get together. I love those dark green pants and am on the hunt for a pair in real life! Ever since I bought my first pair of colored skinny jeans I'm hooked! At least on the dark jewel toned pairs.

3 ways to wear;

Told you I'm into green-all 3 of this weeks outfits have green pieces-I didn't even do it on purpose...

I'd wear this for Saturday night or Sunday morning! I love the look of boots and dresses,  especially this one with it's soft floaty skirt!  This is a good way to transition summer pieces into fall and get more out of your wardrobe!

Ok your turn! Do you  have this staple in your wardrobe? What is your favorite way to wear it?  Any colors you find yourself being drawn too lately?? I obviously cant get enough green...

Hello Dear Blog!

A week has gone by since I updated you and its mostly because I find myself camera-less! :( I accidentally left it at my Grandmothers house when we surprised her for her 85th birthday! Its on its way back to me now so I thought I'd share a little re-cap via instagram/camera phone pictures  to catch you up on the goings on around here! Tomorrow we'll be back to my usual What I wore Wednesday post-albeit a day late...

We went camping on my in-law's land over the weekend!

I don't love camping. Mostly because I'm lazy and vain and camping takes a lot of work.

I kid I kid!
A little...

What I do love is the challenge of putting a tent up. In the dark.
I also love the sugar crazed madness that ensues after consuming jumbo sized marshmallows. Gwen was like a hamster on a wheel running around the tent...I also love sleeping on the ground.  The word love here is loosely translated to hate. Loath is also acceptable. I may have whispered "I hate camping" to my husband as we lay there under the stars and over the rocks. I also may have elbowed him under the covers while our  4 yr old  twitched and vibrated beside us while coming down from her sugar high...

Joking aside, I really don't hate camping. And I'm not an abusive spouse either. I actually loved it after Michael brought out an air mattress. Next time we know to start out that way! duh.  My Lovin Man happens to be a marshmallow roasting pro so really-we had a good time;)

We also played a few games of castle risk with my sisters and brothers and their significant others.

Yes we're nerdy. Yes I'm OK with that.
These are 2 of my sisters. I  act exceptionally immature around them. And we're blurry. So there ya go.

So I'm still here! Just took an unexpected little break! I missed you though;)
Something else has happened in my absence here too.  Something very exciting!

Can you guess what it is?

done.

Finally.

This project has consumed every second of my 'spare' time since last Wednesday!  Hence the lapse of posts around here. Having my living room look like a garage sale was making me feel like a crazy person! Plus nothing is more satisfying than well organized closets

Am I right!?
Now...on to my closet...

I'm pretty sure there are maternity clothes still lurking in there somewhere...Do ya'll have any projects looming over you? What do you do to motivate yourself? Because I am seriously not looking forward to more piles of clothes.

House update!

We're still plugging away on this little bathroom...

Michael has installed trim and tile and grout and while it may not look like a whole lot has changed in here rest assured he spent enough time working in here to warrant a shout out here on the blog-can I get a Holla! for the hubby!??!

Just look at that precise tile work!
Now that the basics are all finished in here its time for the fun stuff! I  put together a  mood board  for this space and these images reflect what I would like to have but I've also been loving these beautiful bathrooms

I'm also dreaming up laundry accommodations while I'm at it.

Don't look over there to your right. Just ignore that.

I really love this laundry room

Especially the doors. The doors are a neccesity.  No way I want to stare at all the laundry waiting for me while soaking in my big beautiful bathtub...

Loving Lately

Hello!
Today's post is a little late. My poor husband had wisdom teeth removed and has been recovering in the bedroom so our schedule is a little off. Plus I have this project going on at the same time because I'm an excellent planner.   I'm consolidating all the random bags and boxes in the attic into plastic, well organized bins. I'm weird in that this makes me feel happy. Happy enough to blog about it anyway...also I'm realizing we have an appalling amount of clothing.  I already have a rather large donate pile.

All of this is relevant I swear! Because what I've been 'Loving Lately is:

organize!

Yep. Organization. Just call me Martha.  Lately, and maybe its the change of seasons, I've been on a little organizational spree tackling the little spaces that seem to emplode upon themselves if not carefully monitored.  This whole plastic bins project has been on my list for months now and I'm so happy to finally be getting to it! Even if I'm interrupted every 10 seconds by a bouncy 4 year old, a fussy teething 6 month old and a miserable 31 year old ;) domestic bliss.

3 ways to wear: Floral Pants

Happy Friday!

So. I have this thing I do whenever a new 'trend' comes out. First I'm all "no. never. I hate it." Then I'm kinda "eh...maybe...sometimes" and finally, when the trend has almost been worn to death  I'm like:

Ok maybe not like that exactly but my point is things have to grow on me. I think its conditioning to some point -I just get so used to seeing something that it becomes ok.  I felt this way about skinny jeans and now I love them. I did this with colored jeans and now I actually own a pair.  I've done this with  Ugg Boots and... nope still hate Ugg boots....There's always an exception...anyway I'm starting to come around on the floral printed pants. Or printed pants of any kind-I've seen leopard and polka dot too, so I decided to come up with 3 ways I would wear floral pants-if I were to wear them at all

Floral Pants #1

This first look is very girly and classic. I kept the jewelry to a minimum since I liked the streamlined silhouette of the ponytail and I didn't want to compete with those crazy pants!  I could see myself wearing this to church or to somewhere slightly dressy. Its a little prim and proper but still fun and I like that.

Floral Pant #2

This look is relaxed but pulled together.  Great for long days out when you want to look good but still be comfortable. This one is more in my personal comfort zone and could be a great date night outfit. That is, if your honey doesnt mind floral pants.
I'm pretty sure my only-has-3-colors-in-his-closet guy would be a little weirded out by them...

Floral pants #3

#3 is probably the "youngest" of the 3. I would still wear this but it would have to be on a day I was feeling brave. Its a little throwback grunge with the boots but I think the romantic hairstyle helps to pull it back a little and keep it current.

What do you think? Do you have a favorite? Or are you completely appalled by printed pants??  Let me know in the comments! I love when you lovely ladies chime in!
