WIWW!

Welcome to What I Wore Wednesday, a weekly feature that inspires me to get out of my yoga pants and stay current with my fashion choices!!
I really enjoy the motivation it gives me to wear things I love!!
For some reason I'm still getting back in the habit of taking daily pictures since being sick last week-so I didn't remember until Thursday!!

Thursday was our date night. I knew we'd be walking around downtown so I wore this skirt because I love the way it swishes! Also Maxi skirts like this are surprisingly warm-it's like they trap a pocket of warm air around your legs or something...

I already gave a run-down of the weekend HERE so I won't go over it again :)
I love love love Sunday's shoes-they aren't super comfortable though so I don't wear them often but I can handle them for a few hours.

So that's WIWW!
If you're looking for your link just check the parties tab up there ^
and thanks for reading!!

I think I found something new to love.

Its hard for me to paint my nails.

Not in an "I'm unable to paint them because I am incapable way" more like a "I can't pick up the crying baby because my nails are wet" kind of way which is really a lame excuse so my nails just end up unpainted. Until last night. We're hosting 5 girls for an Aquire the Fire event (which is a local youth concert/convention type thing) and since that makes 12 hands available to cuddle and love on my sweet Ivy I painted the heck out of them! I even added glitter.
I also discovered a new love for the amazing nail art on Pinterest as we all scrolled through for inspiration.
I have a new found appreciation for the term nail "art"

I mean just look at them!

I'm also loving the accent nail thing:  nail art..

I also am dying to try these new nail strips

And especially these

from Sally Hansen-I love the gold tip!

Nail strips are actually the perfect solution to the wet nail thing-you just press and smooth them on and voila!

I know I'm late to jump on the nail art train so please share-What is your favorite way to do your nails? Any amazing tutorials to share??

Weekend Update/Photodump

It's been a while since I've updated you in this fashion so I thought it was time for a little Instagram/iPhone action! I find my iPhone to be invaluable when it comes to snapping a quick picture throughout the day. We've had an eventful weekend so there are a lot of pictures  and something tells me its going to be a busy week...

First Michael and I had an amazing and much needed date on Thursday. I was having so much fun I forgot to take pictures but we did buy these chips

and I did take a picture of them!
They were not a big hit. Has anyone tried the other flavors?

I also got to go into Lush for the first time and what we bought there was a much better purchase than the chips...

I'm in love. I can't afford to use their products as frequently as I'd like so I've been researching how to make my own lotion bars and bath bombs! I'll let you know how it goes :)
On Friday we spent sometime with the girls great-greandfather who is visiting from Florida

We also got a little arts and crafts time in-Ivy painted for the first time :)

Saturday was pretty mellow. I got some reading done

and some mending

We took a walk

and tried out our new french press!

Mostly we just hung out at home which was good because Sunday was so busy there are no pictures!
How was your weekend??
Thanks for reading!!

3 ways to wear it!

Happy Friday! Today's 3 ways will be centered around this bright coral blazer!

Blazer

Blazer   (see more red blazers)

I have already played around with a classic black blazer and since spring is right around the corner, thought I'd add some fun color to my imaginary wardrobe!

3 ways to wear: A Bright Blazer

I love the unexpected pairing of the army green with the coral.  I think it works since they're cousins to red and green which of course are complimentary. A chunky necklace and a relaxed hairstyle keep this look casual and I could see myself wearing it out for errands or even to dinner!

This look is very feminine and romantic. I love the pastel tones against the cream purse and I love those shoes!! I was just warming up to them before but I'm a fan now! Here, the blazer adds a little structure without overwhelming the soft details and the whole outfit has a vintage vibe.

#3 is a more sleek and modern look.  Pairing black with the coral makes it look especially bright  and the touch of leopard in the scarf adds a little interest! I love the gold tips on the shoes too:)

Ok ladies! Whats your favorite way to wear it??  I'm a fan of #1 just because I love the color combo!

Tiny Style Tuesday

One of my favorite parts of having 2 little girls is being able to dress them up:) I was poking around Target's children's section and found some new favorites! Being that we are on a pretty strict budget at the moment I've been restraining myself and haven't bought anything but that doesn't mean I can't share a few favorites with you!!

Gwen being 5 means she has quite an opinion on her wardrobe now and so she usually ends up in an ensemble similar to this....

Or this

Actually at the moment she is wearing coral, baby pink and mauve.  Its a thing to behold. She hasn't quite learned that all pinks are not created equal...

I'll do my best to post as usual but until she's all better-thanks for being patient with me and say a little prayer for quick healing!!

3 Ways to Wear

Happy Friday!! I'm doing something a little different for today's 3 ways. Instead of centering around one article of clothing I'm going to be working with color and one particular combination

I'm really loving these colors paired together and I think they can work in a lot of different styles! Lets see what I come up with;

3 ways to wear mint and lavender

This first look is feminine and a bit conservative.  The striped shirt helps to ground this look a little and the dainty details make this a very girly, but still wearable look.

In this look I used the mint as an accent and paired this floral skirt with a lot of basic neutrals. I also chose a cropped jacket to keep the proportions right and highlight the skirt as the focal piece. I love the way the mint necklace looks against the soft gray and can see this being a great date night outfit!

This look is a great way to show that 'edgy' doesn't necessarily mean black and spikes. Even the softest pastels can lend a rocker vibe when paired with the right accessories!

I was having so much fun with this color combo that I thought I'd put together one more to really illustrate that the way you style an outfit really affects the overall outcome!  Here the same basics that were in the last look are repeated (mint sweater, lavender scarf and black boots) but by changing up the styling and adding more movement with soft fabrics it completely changes the look!

I hope you enjoyed 4 ways to wear it!  What is your favorite look?  Are you a fan of this color combo? I have a feeling we're going to be seeing a lot this pairing in spring!

Valentine Printable

We have 2 valentines parties to go to. There are 25-ish children expected at both parties. That's 50 valentines. 50.  Instead of buying valentines this year I just whipped this little image!  I loved it so much I wanted to share it with you in case you're in need of a last minute valentine!

Here it is in a frame-able format:

And here is it in valentine format!

I printed them on card stock and Gwen and I made fingerprint hearts and she signed her name (get it-fingerprint, one of a kind...)
