WIWW

This week I want to see what y'all all think of the 90's trends that are creeping into trend-zone. Some of them are full blown throw-backs like cropped tops.

                     Then                                          Now

Recent styles are looser and more bohemian in my opinion. I like these worn with a high waisted maxi skirt and loose wavy hair.

 Combat boots:

              Then                                                                       Now

Combat boots available now are much more feminine and have added studs, zippers and buckles! They also have thinner soles which lends a whimsical air to your wardrobe and they resemble styles from the 1930's  instead of the clunky doc martens that were so popular in the 90's.  I personally love this trend and am on the lookout for the perfect pair! I like these paired with loose flowy tops or lacy dresses layered up with necklaces and leggings!

Another trend that was big in the 90's are floral prints.  This trend, along with the combat boots  are my favorite at the moment because they are successfully translated into 2013 without looking dated.
Like this dress I recently stole from my sisters closet!

Paired with a fedora and sandals this breezy jersey (extremely comfortable) dress reads less like "Blossom 1994"and more like "Harmony 2013"

Now that we've talked about trends we love seeing revived lets address some that need to stay in the 90's.

Like the frosted lips:

butterfly clips:

and anything the spice girls wore-don't get me wrong-I loved them as much as anyone did but fashion wise

...I mean...really.

What trends are you hoping never resurface?  Any that already have and you hate it?! Let me know!

Meet Becca and Win stuff!

Hello Lovely Readers!
I'd like to introduce you to one of my sponsors! Take it away Becca!

_______________________________________________________________________

Hi I’m Becca and I write for Everyday Life. I recently used my secret ninja skills and snagged a large sponsor and because of that was asked by Harmony to do a guest post. Truth is I bribed her with ice cream because I’m good like that.

Any ways I’m a 41 year old wife and mom but shh don’t tell my mind this as it’s still stuck at age sixteen as is my behavior some days. I’ve been married for 21 years and have one son that’s 13 he’s the center of my world. My occupation to date is chef, housekeeper, and teacher!

I also on any given day suffer from CRMW. That is a disease in which I am either enjoying some sinfully good chocolate, reading a great book, dancing on tables to good music or writing in my blog.

Now should you choose to visit me be aware that my blog is much like me a case of creative chaos.  I write about nothing specific as I am not crafty though I love to color, I’m not a great cook though I make a mean casserole, I have no parenting advice even though my child is a straight A student but I do enjoy talking about everything and anything as my grandma would say “I’m a jack of all trades and a master of none”.

So if you enjoy talking about everything and can overlook clutter please come say HI oh and bring your own cup for drinking  as I can’t guaranteed I ran the dishwasher for the day.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Girl knows my weak spots! Ice cream gets me every time ;)
Becca is kind enough to offer up two sponser spots! Look below for ways to enter!

Psst! Are you interested in hosting a giveaway? Sponsoring Thistles & Twigs?  Send me an email @ harmonybatham@yahoo.com or just click the advertise tab above!

Now-a confession-
I did a horrible job of keeping up this week! Don't judge!
Here are the pictures I DID take;)
I made homemade granola! It tastes delicious and I store it #inmyfridge to keep it fresh!

I spent a day in the dirt playing in the garden. and I um...didn't smell good afterward.

#petpeeve. Enough said.

Thats it so far! Don't be surpised if I update this post later with the rest of this weeks pictures.
I'm OCD like that...

Ok your turn!

Its time for What I Wore Wednesday, a weekly post designed to inspire and encourage all you ladies out there to look your very best so you can feel your very best!

Sunday we went to church, had lunch with friends and then visited family!  I didn't wear those shoes the whole time though...
I am really loving these green pants and even though they're a darker color, am excited to wear them in the spring with light flowery tops! Are any of you clinging to your fall hues as spring approaches?

I just love pattern pairing.  This is such a feminine look too! Shauna from Because Shauna Said So is a pattern mixing pro! Any others masters of mixing out there? I'd love to hear your favorite pattern pairings!
It never fails. I always go back to bohemian chic. Its my comfort zone you know what I mean!?  The best part about this skirt is the tie has tiny little jingle bells that tinkle and jingle when I walk.

It makes me feel like a gypsy...My mama may never get her skirt back! (just kidding Mom;))

I fell a little behind so I just combined these 3-that works right?

I am in love with these earrings I made! Something about spikes appeals to me...

I love when I catch my girls being sweet to each other:) I walked in on this little scene the other day

 I love clean hair...
and this baby loves to play in the dirt!
 Ok! Now it's your turn!!

I grow stuff.

Actually...I kill stuff

Funny Friendship Ecard: I just want to let you know that if you ever need to have a plant killed, I'm the person to do that job. I take care of my neighbors pretty flowers, i told her do i have flowers in my planter....no bc i can't keep them alive! LOL

My husband?  Now he grows stuff! I always forget to water...

there is something so amazing about watching plants spring from the earth
where before there was only dirt.

I can't wait to pick fresh produce from our backyard!
How about you? Are you a notorious plant murderer like myself? Or is your thumb a greener hue?

wiww

Welcome to what I wore Wednesday!  I've been feeling somewhat un-inspired and out of it on the fashion front lately so thank goodness for WIWW or I wouldn't have tried at all!  I think it's getting used to our new schedule with Michael around more...and maybe the fact that weather in Texas is bipolar that has me out of my groove! Just when I pulled out all of my sundresses a cold front blew in! Anyway this last week I felt like I was back in the swing of things and it wasn't such a struggle to put together outfits and as a result I really love some of these combinations.

I've been on the hunt for a plain white button up and I hit the jackpot on this one! It fits so well, is made of soft floaty chiffon, and was only $12! I'm looking forward to wearing it in the warmer months with shorts, or open over dresses!

I forgot about this poncho until just last week when winter is almost over ;( I wore it all last winter when I was pregnant with Ivy and my coat wouldn't button over my belly!

Friday was our usual morning playdate.  This is one of those tops that just barely made the cut when I was Spring Cleaning my Wardrobe .I'm still not in love with it but I like it in this outfit. What do you think?

Saturday we went to an AWESOME birthday party for our AWESOME friends! (Hi Kristi!;)
Then we went to my In-laws for dinner and they kids watched a movie with Grandma and Grandpa while we soaked in the hot tub. It was so relaxing I almost want one for myself. almost.

Tuesday was spent at home with the usual laundry, housecleaning and schoolwork to keep me company.  It was a rather pleasant low key day-The kind I crave to recharge from the weekend!
How was your week?  Are you battling the daily get dressed battle too?! Go check the parites tab to link up your success stories ;)

Thank you for reading!

Welcome to What I Wore Wednesday, a weekly feature that  helps motivate me in putting a little extra effort into my appearance!

Easter Sunday! I was tempted to add some artificial color to my legs. Seriously that is beyond pale. I could give Bella a run for her money...Don't hate me for the Twilight reference ;)

This was Monday. It a colorful day.  I really like the dark blue with the green!  I'm not really feeling the hair though...Monday I spent the day with a friend and neglected all my responsibilities. It was awesome.

Tuesday! I love that dress! It's incredibly versatile and comfortable. Target has a knack for making amazing and affordable dresses.  I just did the usual house-wifey stuff; cleaned, laundry, menu planning...you know the drill!
