maxi mixology

Today, for What I Wore Wednesday we're exploring the Maxi Skirt trend in the 2nd installment of the mixology series! (see the 1st one here)  If you've been around for awhile you know I have quite the collection of maxi skirts.  I just love how flowey and feminine they are but I also love how versatile they can be!  Just by changing up the styling you can give them a classic look, or a rocker vibe or the typical bohemian flair that is almost synonymous with the style.

Another thing I love about Maxi's is how they can work for all seasons! These really are a closet staple in my opinion!  As if my collection isn't big enough, here are a few more beautiful skirts I'd love to come live in my closet

Are you into the maxi skirt trend? What is your favorite way to wear them??  Which one would you add to your closet!? Personally I'm loving those beautiful ombre designs...

wiww + 7x7 remix challenge!

This week I'm participating in the 7x7  remix challenge with Ma Nouvelle Mode
The challenge is this: pick 7 pieces, including shoes, and make 7 outfits with them!
Accessories are unlimited.
Here are my 7 picks
Including shoes in the 7 really made this challenging! I almost chose 2 pairs but at the last minute switched them out for a pair of shorts and I'm glad I did.

I decided to make this a true challenge and choose pieces I wouldn't necessarily pair together so lets  see just how far I can stretch my wardrobe!

1.
My husband was out of town for the last week so last Sunday we had a much needed date night. I love this color combo together and this is my new favorite belt! ($5 on clearance! Whoot!) I got tons of compliments on this outfit too which is always nice :)

2.

Yes that's a skirt. Yes I'm wearing it as a shirt. I love to use clothing in more ways than one and this skirt actually works quite well as a top! Paired with skinny jeans and wedges this could actually be a lot dressier! But I didn't include either of those in my 7 so I went casual instead ;)

3.
This an outfit I definitely wouldn't have tried on my own!
The pattern mixing was new for me and has a fun unique vibe-definitely trying this again!

4.

This is one of the reasons I love maxi skirts!  This is the perfect breezy outfit for blazing hot Texas! It was super comfortable but still classy and the natural tones paired beautifully! I do recommend using a thick belt if you decide to remix your maxi to really define your waist! I tried this with a thinner belt and it looked a little blobby. Yes blobby is a technical fashion term.

5.
One challenge I didn't expect in creating these outfits, was fighting the urge to re-use the same jewelry! I love the way these bracelets work with the floral top but I really wanted to get out of my comfort zone and be creative! So this is the only outfit I put them with!

6.
This outfit is a good example of how you can be super casual but still look put together with a few accessories! Also I don't know what is going on with my face here...

7.
This floral top turned out to be the piece I used the most but never in the same way! Its been tucked, tied, belted and left loose! I love the yellow belt against the army green too. Its a belt I hardly ever pull out but thanks to this challenge I'll be utilizing it more often!

There you have my 7x7 challenge!! I have to say I LOVED participating! There are still outfit options too! I still could wear the purple dress alone, or the floral top with the shorts....

Thanks to all the lovely bloggers hosting the challenge linky-lets do this again!

wiww

I love summertime. I love easy summertime fashion too and that is what you're going to see a lot of in the next couple months!
I am in love with this top. Its just so different and screams summer. I cant wait to wear it loosely tucked into a maxi skirt with some wedges! The shorts were a pair of jeans that fit well on top but were too short so I cut them into shorts and threw them in the wash to fray them!
This is something I threw on before heading to my sisters house and her pool! The shorts are another pair of too short pants chopped and washed.  I just added a few accessories so I didn't feel too sloppy-especially since this was a day my hair and makeup got zero attention.
Which is why I'm wearing sunglasses ;)
This is my favorite kind of summer style. Comfortable and classy all in one! I love the way the pointed tiers line up with the detail of the skirt. It has a very slimming effect even though they are both flowy loose fitting pieces!

I hope you enjoyed this everyday fashion! Thanks for reading!

Re-Arrangeing.

AKA Living Room re-tour.
Recently construction on our remodel has slowed down and I've been feeling antsy
for some change in our home.  Rearranging  is a free way to bring new life to your space!
So that's what I did. You gotta mix it up every now and then!

BEFORE:
We had the console and couch right when you walked in which created both an entry way of sorts
and a cozy living space but while it works well for us as a family,
it does not work so well for company!
We also host a small group once a week so we had to capitalize on floor space and seating.

AFTER:

Moving the couch and console to the gallery wall really opened up the space.

We also love how convenient it is for setting down drinks!

Plus its a really fun place to decorate. I decided to lean the 2+2 art on the table and I love how it unifies the wall of art with the couch and table.

Another great thing about this about this arrangement is the way these chairs
under these awkwardly-placed too-small-whatwerethecurrentownerthinking- windows
makes them seem a little less out of place!
I also really like the TV at an angle and the fact that the furniture is not centered around it.
It makes this space feel much more company friendly.

One thing I really would love to add is a fiddle leaf fig tree in this guy
to finish out the wall and fill the space.
Yes that is a pigeon planter.

See what I mean!
That wall is just begging for a plant.
I know I know-I'm an artist.

Here is some actual fiddle leaf figs in case my version just leaves you confused

It's really amazing what something as simple as moving furniture around can do for your space
I hope I've inspired you to re-arrange if something just isn't working!!
Any areas of your home just begging for a fresh look?
