3 ways to wear it-Dress ReStyle

Today I'm doing something a little different! I usually do my 3 ways to wear it like > this < but today I'm bringing the real life edition!

flattering yes?
um No.

I recently picked up this dress for next to nothing at a thrift store because I loved the colors and details. Just not the fit. At all. But I knew I could make it work! (Tim Gunn anyone?)
So I chopped that sucker in half
added a hemline to one side and a waistband to the other,
stitched it all down and

 TaDAH!

2 super versatile pieces to wear 3 ways!

I wore it as a top on Saturday for a evening of live music at a local brewhouse

You've already seen Tuesdays outfit from this post about adding pockets but I wore the skirt part just hanging around the house

I haven't had a chance to wear it this way yet but I just tucked the shirt into the skirt and added a belt! Michael and I are due for our first date alone after Ivy so I'm thinking this just might be the thing to wear:)

I'll be back next Friday with my usual 3 ways to wear it but I was excited with how this turned out and wanted to share! Before you go, make sure to check out my giveaway over on

a tutorial!

A wise man once said "a dress is only as good as its pockets."  oh-no that was me. I said that-and its true! Sometimes pockets are the deciding factor for whether or not something comes home with me!! Its really not difficult to add pockets to a dress (or skirt) as long as it has side seams. Lets get to it!

I hope that was easy to understand! If anything is unclear please feel free to ask questions in the comment section and I will try and clarify to the best of my ability! Thanks for following along. Now go put pockets in something!

3 ways to wear it

Ive seen these bubble necklaces all over the blogesphere lately

statement necklaces

Since they're not really something I usually go for I thought I'd create 3 different ways that I would maybe wear them-I like a challenge!

classy lady

Sometimes I wish my hair was that color. Then I remember I look horrible in orange. :(
This was pretty straightforward. A neutral canvas  makes a great backdrop for that beautiful necklace.  I think choosing the right neckline for such a piece is important-you don't want anything too low cut or it will compete with the necklace and just look messy.

city chic

This is one of those outfits that can go either way-its dressy without being stuffy and could still be worn out all day. I love the coat with those kitty flats and I would probably wear a pair of tights with this but polyvore's tights pictures look weird...

bold boho

I think this is a fun way to dress down such a bold necklace. And I can't get enough fringy boots ;) (fringy is too a word) I love the effortless feel this outfit has and this is the one I would be most likely to throw on for a Saturday afternoon out and about.

What do you think?  Are statement necklaces your thing?  What is your favorite way to wear them??
I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comment section! And while you're at it how about a suggestion for next weeks 3 ways to wear it!?

Couch Envy...

We're in the market for a couch. The first couch we've ever bought. All of our couches have been given to us thus far so we were a little unprepared for how pricey they can be.  Lately I've been scouring the internet for the "perfect" couch. Clean lines., comfy and, heres the kicker, under $1000.   We'd rather buy higher quality that lasts but $4000 is just too much for us to spend.  Lets face it-I have a hard time spending over $10 on something...Its just some fabric on a frame at the end of the day. I have found in my searches, however, some absolutely drool worthy couches. For fun-Lets pretend I'm swanky enough to afford what ever couch I want-these would be at the top of my list.

That leather couch looks so comfy...and I'm in love with the mid century/danish modern silhouette. (which as far as I can tell are the same thing??)
Are you in the market for a sofa? What do you look for when buying the biggest piece of furniture in the main room of your house?? Anyone else in love with that blue one?

Rainy Sunday

Have you ever had a weekend that was just so good? That was this weekend. Not for any reason in particular other than we just spent time together. We were home for most of it so I had a chance to clean in prep for the week.
There is nothing like starting Monday on mopped floors;) How did you spend your weekend?

3 ways to wear it

Happy Friday!
Lately I'm loving all the darker, jewel toned skinny jeans coming out for fall. I have my eye on a pair in this maroon/burgundy color so I thought I'd play around with different ways to play up or tone down colored jeans

#1

This looks like comfy Saturday gear to me.  I'd wear this to take my girls to the park or to casual get together

#2

I love that top-its dainty with a little bit of a rocker edge. This is a great day to night outfit.  I think if you wore flats it could easily be an everyday outfit. Just tuck those awesome mustard wedges and that fancy bedazzled bag in your regular bag until 5 o'clock ;)

#3

I liked the soft waves in the hair to down play all of the hard edges of this outfit. I think this one is good for work or play but either way it belongs downtown!

Which is your favorite?? Are you in to the colored jean thing or do you play it safe with dark denim? I personally am digging #2 and am just now loving this trend enough to actually buy a pair.

Current Crush Thursdays

Lately I've been loving the look of vintage fashion and rich wintery textures.

vintage texture

Even though I feel the most like "me" in flowy, belongs in 1967 type things, it is so fun to dress this way now and then, and I find I lean towards tailored classic pieces in the cooler months. Shabby Apple always has gorgeous vintage inspired pieces and there is nothing like a pin up photo shoot to make a girl feel glamorous
Me Circa blond hair and smaller waist ;)
How about you? Can you rock a vintage vibe? I highly recommend it. At the very least slap on some red lipstick and some false lashes every now and then!
