I can't think of a title for this post.

Its amazing what a difference having beautiful floors makes.

I don't even want to put the rug back...

The funny thing about this old house is that it has all of these weird undefined spaces.  Part of the challenge of decorating here has been to give both purpose and design to each space.  This room is pretty straight forward expect for this little closet/cubby thing.
We're still throwing around ideas for what to do with it and how to make it a functional space. Something that adds to this room and makes sense instead of just a random wasted piece of the floor plan.  Michael went all the way back  into this space when he refinished the floors so its actually a nice little nook!

the stairs go to the attic in case you were wondering
Ive  been toying with the idea of making it a secret hideout kind of space for the girls...these beautiful images from pinterest really sparked my imagination

-just picture a hidden door,  draped fabric,  a little bookshelf in the very back, twinkle lights, fluffy rugs and pillows, a little lamp to read by...of course of all the ideas we've thrown out there this is my favorite one. Anyone else have any suggestions??

  1. I can totally see a little bookshelf in the very back. A little kids nook would be cute and I can totally see Gweny loving that! you could always turn it in to another storage space for off season things, like thanksgiving and christmas stuff and actually hang up the decor in there.

  2. I agree with Lyssa, Harmony....a girl's hideaway nook would be precious!
