Quick and Easy holiday gift idea!

Hopefully you are totally prepared and have all your gifts wrapped and ready under the tree. But just in case you still have some people left on your list,  here is an idea for a quick t shirt upgrade that is cute and easy to put together! Take a regular t shirt from this:

to this!
with no (or minimal) sewing!

 I printed templates from Google images,
but you can find the specific shapes I used here:
I fused the big hearts and smaller decorative pieces using heat and bond, which you can find at your local craft store. Just follow the package instructions for a fast and adorable upgrade!

I took it a step further and embellished with machine stitching and little flowers.

 You can literally put anything you want on a t shirt!

I was inspired by this post from one of my favorite home decor blogs Jones Design Company
She has detailed instructions if you need them! Thanks for reading and have a Merry Christmas!!

3 ways to wear

 Animal Print!  Now I don't know about you, but I'm one of those people whose not a huge fan of animal print.  I prefer it in small touches and think there's an art to wearing it. You may be one of those people who can pull it off but for me its always been tricky.  I like a challenge, so I decided to create 3 wearable outfits using animal print! specifically leopard print.

3 ways to wear:animal print

This first look is pretty safe. I have actually worn something like this and feel totally comfortable with leopard print accessories. This is like the gateway piece to full on animal print;) I would wear this for everyday around the house.

I love to pair a bold pattern with solid strong basics and I really love this look. The maroon tights add just a little bit of interest without being overwhelming. I think it would be perfect for a holiday party!

Whoa there crazy pants. Calm down. ;) I layered up on this look to help balance out the bold pattern of the pants. This is definitely a statement but its a wearable one! I might be convinced to wear this out and about shopping with my sisters...but they might tease me haha!

What do you think? Are you an animal print lover?? Whats your favorite way to wear it?!

Meet Kendra!

Today I am excited to introduce you to my December Sponsor, Kendra Kay!
hey there!
can i let you in on a secret?
today is my first guest post ever!
this is me!
kendra, kendra kay, kp, yo you.
i basically answer to all of those-and more.

i'm so excited to *meet* all you lovely readers of thistles and twigs-for real!
i don't want to disappoint so i spent all kinds of time thinking over what kind of post i should do for y'all.
i wasn't sure if i should tell you about myself, ya know, like a quick 411 or show you photos of my 3 littles or share a diy. oh i was in a state of undecided chaos for sure!

anyway, my middle little said i should show my hair bow. yeah, why not?
i never thought i would wear my own hair as a bow but uh, "never say never" is not a popular phrase for nuthin'!

-->

pull the top half of your hair back
into a ponytail leaving the last bit
out to create a “loop"

-->
separate the loop into 2 even sections

-->
bobby pin the back of each loop section to the back
of your head so it stays in place creating your bow

-->
pick up a small section of hanging hair
to create the center of your bow

-->
bring the braid up and pull it through the
center of your bow letting the remainder hang.
if you need to you can bobby pin this

-->
your hair bow!

kinda fun right? thanks for reading and hangin' out!
you lovely people go on out there and have a great day now ya hear?!

Thanks Kendra for an awesome DIY! Such a cute hairstyle! Go check out her blog HERE If you're interested in sponsoring Thistles and Twigs just click the "advertise' tab at the top of the page for more info! Thanks for reading:)

Are you ready for a Photodump!?

Happy Monday!

We're in especially high spirits around here-The weather is finally chilly so its feeling more Christmas-y and my amazing husband is home for the whole month of December! I  love having him around...I'm not nearly as productive but he's pretty good company so I don't mind ;) I hope you all had a weekend as wonderful as ours. We spent Saturday Celebrating Christmas with my mom's side of  the family and Sunday out at Michael's parents.  The men occupied themselves with very manly tasks like splitting wood and teaching the kids how to shoot a bow and arrow. Lots and Lots of fun:)

Tell me that's not attractive....
 That's Micahels older brother and his son Paul. They're teaching him how to get his man card...
Man Card gained. Michael approves.

The baby started out fully clothed...
and here's where we ended up...it's hot in Texas
I'm a photobomb expert. Obviously.

oh hey there Katniss
Disclaimer: Yes I know babies shouldn't play with balloons. Yes I was Right there. No you shouldn't judge me;)

Thanks to Yvette my sister-in- law for taking such great pictures!

3 ways to wear

I haven't done one of these in awhile! This is my starter piece today

Collette Dinnigan top

 I thought this would be the kind of thing you might buy when out shopping for holiday events and for me its always helpful if I can think of several ways to wear a blouse, especially if its a little on the expensive side!

I think the obvious way to pair this piece is with a dressier skirt to a more formal event like this

3 ways to wear; chiffon blouse

  This would be great for all the upcoming Christmas and new years parties! The skirt and the blouse are both such statement pieces so I kept it simple with the shoes and jewelry. Less is more in this case;)

3 ways to wear; chiffon blouse

Here is a great way to bring a blouse like that into the daytime! I love the whimsical touch that amazing unicorn ring gives. This whole outfit has a very undone relaxed vibe but still feels very put together.

This is the most casual of the 3. I love the juxtaposition of the lace with the boots and canvas jacket. This is definitely an everyday look that I would wear and its my favorite!

Chime in ladies! What is your favorite way to bring a more formal piece into everyday?
Thanks for reading!
