take a swim in the mermaid lagoon!

I finally got my camera back from my sister! Last weekend we had my niece Kayla's 5th birthday ( with a theme of course) it was so cute! we made mermaid tales for the girls-and Noah was just a handsome beach bum:

We really had fun decorating-which we always do-but I was really happy with the way this party came out-as a rule we have elaborate costume encouraged parties and this one was the easiest we've done in a long time! The spread:

we like to do cupcakes for little kiddos-and these are so cute! its a little personal paradise

We also had the little girls make seashell headbands (or mermaid princess tiaras! its all in how you present it)

we had a treasure chest pinata but i didn't get good picture of it:( Heres the best one:
Hope (my sister) is notorious for making rock solid pinatas - so two of our brothers went at it before it finally broke!I don't think they minded...

overall a success:)
also-we did something silly in the bathroom
I'm still deciding what to do for Gwen's 3rd birthday coming up in January-I'm thinking "Lords and Ladies"-because she is in the "princess" phase and really-its only so long that you can have a princess party for your little girl-but we have alot of little boys that would come too-so they can be valient knights?...I dunno I havn't decided yet... any ideas? :)

FALL!!

I think its really finally here:) there's a nip in the air and we've been to the pumpkin patch so its official! I decorated my house for fall too but i left my camera at my sisters :p so pictures of my autumn festiveness will have to wait :(

Look at these AMAZING pumpkins-they were called "fairy tale" pumpkins and i really wanted to get one-this one in particular but it was kind of expensive for a pumpkin...

we also went through a corn maze which was pretty cool

Gwenie is such a natural little model-lol she just poses all by herself...probably because I take thousands of pictures of her!

Turns out

I hate to prime.

I consider myself a generally neat, level headed person. But put a roller in my hand and stick me in a fume filled room and I turn into a paint splattering, obscenity mumbling, grouchy, unreasonable wench. My husband is a saint.

I am so not a DIY (er-well-when it comes to construction-I can craft like crazy) which means this might turn into a complain fest. Maybe if I just put exclamation points after every sentence! It will look like I’m overwhelmed with joy! Instead of secretly despairing! it will never be finished! Also I will throw in a few Huzzahs! For good measure! Keeps moral up! Huzzah!

Any whooooo

We primed and painted! And I LOVE the color- I’ll admit I was a little nervous while it dried but OH its beautiful *contented sigh* and I love how it looks with the accent color

oh-I'm wearing the accent color! (Que cheesy thumbs up shot)

yeah-"thumbs up" looks so weird...it was seriously hard to take a picture of this pose...maybe its just my strangely curved thumb...

Yeah...thats probably it...

So these babies are up next

Can't you see the beauty peeking out from under Lord knows what...ech...oh I mean Huzzah! :)

Something Superficial

Can I be vain and shallow for a moment? K thanks

I reeeeally want my hair to be long again....

Its almost long enough to be called long

but not near long enough for me! Doesn't everyone have a certain hair length/color/style in which they feel the most like "themselves" For me-my ideal hair is about 5 inches longer than it is now and dark brown with bluntish sweepy bangs.
what irks me is-I HAD IT!

And then got bored...and chopped it, and dyed it and super chopped it and now-I'm just leaving it and letting it grow-but its ssooooo boring :p

until then-I'll just wear it up...so I can pretend it could cascade down my back if i wanted it to
*sigh*
Hurry up and grow, hair!

you can hug me like a bean....

Progress is good-really good-even when the hubster says, on a Thursday evening at 6pm "Hey (Friend X) is coming over to help me do that wall in Gwen's room" "oh cool, when?" "um-now..."

mmmkayyyy....meaning the room must be cleared and temporary new homes found for all its inhabitants-in about 30 min.
(*breathe deeply, think on all the sweet and wonderful things about the man you married, swallow snarky comments, help him move the 10 billion toys from your daughters room and into-wait for it-OUR ROOM!! YAY!)

actually-its not really that bad-I'm overjoyed to see things change from obscenely ugly:

to just-unfinished:

and these sorts of things he does totally make up for it:)

Also! We found something neat underneath the old sheet-rock and 2 layers of wallpaper! Someone wrote :
"you can hold me like a bean, let me sit on your lap. EW+UR"

which, is weird and makes no sense...BUT it must have been from when the house was built-so 80 years old. I'm thinking it was a private joke between lovers. Or people in the 30's had strange ideas about romance...

any idea what that might mean?

the ugly room transformation !

Hurrah! we have begun ladies and gents ( well just ladies I guess) last Saturday we sheet-rocked the "ugly room" so now its a not so ugly room! Here it is Before:

ew right

this is the old wall paper that was underneath the old sheet rock-i think its kind of cool...

My dad is the mud KING he just slaps that stuff up there

I on the other hand feel like I am literally "slapping" it up there...and everywhere else-not as easy as it looks folks...

I am really excited about this part too-its going to be my new closet!

we're going to put Bi-fold shutter doors there-instead of 2 dinky doors
and someday that door will lead to our masterbath-someday people SOMEDAY!! (that's just me willing it to happen-pay no mind)

so its almost amazing-it needs another coat of float and then texture and THEN paint!
speaking of paint
before we started I finalized my color palette for the house-because I like to have a well thought out plan since i am quite familiar with the flustered feeling that comes with construction and i knew i would need something to reference and also I just really love interior decorating stuff :) SO this is my "master color chart" (aren't i fancy) the top color is for the bedroom
hmmm-they are much more vibrant in real life...oh well you get the jist
and this is for Gwen's room-I have wanted to have a room with these colors since forever (yes FOREVER ok-dramatic much?)

I actually want to paint the outside of my house the blue and have red trim (swwwwooon)
and also-the quilt I'm making for her matches perfectly-I cant wait! heres a peek at the fabric

something not so beautiful happened this weekend too-with all the dust flying around something got stuck in my eye and developed into a sty. Ugh. It is gross and awful and I've only been able to wear mascara on one eye-and that just looks silly...today it is much better-I am actually equally macaraed. (thats not even a word...) I am way too vain to post a picture of my sty in its full Quasimodo glory...

I so can't wait to have our room finished! and er-sorry for the lack of pretty in todays post...I promise next time I will have something inspiring and beautiful to look at!

yep

well its like we thought-we cant take out the full amount and just do the house all at once :( They said its because we don't have enough equity in our home and blah blah blah-BUT-after pouting a bit and whining to the Hubster now I have another plan!!
We are just going to do the house in stages. which admittedly was my worst nightmare but I'm willing to suffer in a construction zone for a while. the plan now is to transform "the ugly room"- that is really what we call it-into our bedroom-which would be so awesome because it would mean my bedroom would have...A DOOR! right now its completely accessible to just about anyone which means the sweet little children who come to play like to use it as a trampoline and-i have a white comforter people!!! it just doesn't work and makes me all cranky-thats my main beef with you house-you're just not functional! Anyways-I would love to have a room like this:

I especially love that last one...
so stage one is:Level the house (its all wonky)
Transform the ugly room into a blissful retreat
and! THE KITCHEN!!!

that last part makes me so happy-I literally put myself to sleep at night thinking about what my new kitchen will be like! I want this:

*sigh*Yeeeearn*fret*forcibly shove impatience away*annnd wait.*

anyways I'm sorry I don't have any of my own pictures in this post-my computer is being lame and wont let me upload which is awful because I have quilt pictures to show you! :( grrr-they'll have to wait until next time - I'll damsel in distress my sweetheart into fixing it ;)
